Water Treatment for Homes & Smallholdings
Borehole, rainwater or municipal storage: one NanoJet™ keeps the water in your tank fresh for the house, the animals and the garden.
Have you had your water tested?
Most problems only show up once there's staining, smell or a blocked dripper. Test first, then use our free tool to check your results against SANS 241.
Where Does Your Water Come From?
💧 Borehole or wellpoint
Groundwater often arrives low in oxygen, carrying dissolved iron, manganese and gases.
- Oxidises iron and manganese so they can settle or be filtered out, instead of staining basins, laundry and paving
- Strips hydrogen sulphide ("rotten egg" smell) and CO₂
- Lifts settled sludge back into circulation so your filter can catch it
Iron needs a pH of about 7.2–7.5 or higher to oxidise, manganese about 7.2–8.5. NanoJet™ lifts pH by around 1 point by stripping CO₂; more acidic water needs pH correction first. Borehole treatment explained →
🌧️ Rainwater harvesting
Rainwater is soft and clean off the roof, but it doesn't stay that way sitting still in a tank.
- Keeps stored rainwater moving and oxygenated so it doesn't go flat and smelly
- Stops sediment and organic debris settling into an anaerobic sludge layer
- Less slime and biofilm on tank walls
For drinking, add UV disinfection after the tank. NanoJet™ freshens stored water but is not a disinfection system on its own.
🚰 Municipal water in storage
Backup tanks for load-shedding and water outages often hold municipal water for weeks.
- Keeps backup water fresh once the chlorine has faded
- Helps strip volatile THMs (chlorination by-products)
- Prevents stale, still water and sediment build-up
Ideal where the tank refills slowly or sits unused between outages.
Running a Smallholding?
On a smallholding one borehole or tank usually does three jobs. NanoJet™ treats the water once, in storage, before it splits off to each of them.
🏠 The house
- No more iron staining on basins, toilets and laundry
- Fresher-smelling water at the tap
- Less sludge reaching your filters and geyser

🐐 The animals
- Oxygen-rich water without iron taste or sulphur smell, which animals drink more readily
- Cleaner troughs with less slime and algae
- Suits chickens, goats, sheep, horses and a few cattle off the same supply
Check your test results per species against DWAF guidelines: free livestock water tool.
🌱 The garden, veg and orchard
- Oxidised iron and manganese are filtered out before they block drippers
- Oxygen-rich water for the root zone
- Less algae and slime in irrigation lines

Which NanoJet™ Fits Your Tank?
Every NanoJet™ comes with a 2-year warranty. Not sure which one? Take the 4-question quiz →
What NanoJet™ does, and what it doesn't
✓ Does
- Aerates and circulates the whole tank
- Oxidises iron and manganese at the right pH, ready to settle or filter out
- Strips hydrogen sulphide and CO₂
- Lifts sludge off the tank floor towards your filter
✗ Doesn't
- Soften hard water (that needs a softener)
- Remove salt (that needs reverse osmosis)
- Disinfect drinking water on its own (add UV)
- Remove oxidised iron without a filter or settling time
Every water is different, so test your water first and we'll tell you exactly what you need.
